Because the City of Cape Canaveral is financially accountable for the activities of the Cape Canaveral Free Public Library, the City Council has final approval over activities. The District’s relationship to the City is significant, its financial activities are reported on a blended basis as if it were part of the primary government as a major special revenue fund. The Library’s Fiscal Year (FY) is October 1 to September 30 of the following year. The Financial information for the District is included in the City of Cape Canaveral's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and the Budget located in the Document Center. Revenues are obtained from Ad Valorem Taxes and Impact Fees.
